Earlier ones don't have the mounting ears for the aluminum shifter support. So I am in the process of splitting a getrag 260 and so far I got it to split about a 1/4 inch and now there seems to be something causing it to stick. so far I removed all of the rear bolts that hold the case together, I have taken out the reverse switch, the reverse gear shaft retaining bolt and the selector shaft pin.If there isn't an obvious problem, it's likely best to source another transmission. If you loosen either of the two bolts for the reverse gear shaft, you'll need to reapply sealant when reinstalling.
