So, what I am looking for primarily is a spark plug recommendation for this setup with tight headers at E5 and E6. How I do remember seeing a flow comparison between Vortec heads and the double-humps several years ago in one of the magazines.Both in stock form. The Vortecs outflowed the camel humps by 30-40 cfm across the rpm range. Not a huge amount but the Vortecs have a better designed chamber and more potential then the venerable double-humpers.Upgrade the internals all you want but you're limiting yourself with those 186's. Unless you want to spend $1500 to have them fully ported, you're much better off just putting a modern version of the Duntov 30-30 cam in it. Pocket porting 186's MIGHT get you 215 cfm at .500. Stock Vortec flows .240 at same lift.Vortecs flow 230 cfm out of the box. They have much better chambers for better combustion. If you must have a conventional intake manifold, there are aftermarket Iron heads that that are also much better. Save the camel hump heads for restorations. A 291/462 fuelie flows generally in the high 190s stock round .500 lift. Ported with a 2.02 valve still thick enough to use I get around 262 CFM but @ .650 lift. On the exhaust I get around 210 CFM, which I don't think I've seen on the Vortec head.…
