I believe the price was $149.95 back then. It was very accurate and maintained it's POI from a cold barrel, but tended to shoot higher as the barrel heated up. After 20 rounds it was shooting much larger groups at least 8-10 inches high at 100 yds. Sold it and bought a bolt gun for hunting and a Ruger mini-30 for defense. REM.Heard of feeding and extraction problems with some in the past but some of these problems could be related to proper cleaning of chamber possibly. Never owned a 742 but do have a Model Four similar to the 7400 but they have a different gas system than the 742. Awesome looking rifles though.
