There should be no oil inside your axel tube, if the axel tube seal at the wheel hub is gone is probably full of water and wheel bearing grease. Its easy to replace, take off the castle nut, remove hub, take off the axel tube and you can easily get at it. With the tube off you can also inspect the oil seal on the differential..
