Extension OPT • The purpose of the STEM Extension of OPT is to give you up to 24 months of work authorization to get supervised training in your STEM degree • Both you and your employer have to make sure your work will involve training and learning in your STEM field • Volunteering and self-employment are NOT permitted under STEM Extension.
