I have replaced the fuel pump, added 2 in-line filters both before the pump and one between the pump and the carb. Also replaced all rubber fuel lines. The idle screw has not moved. Nothing obvious that we can tell except the plugs look a little rich to me. Beginning of the race it idles great. This carb (if it is the problem) has ran less than 10 races.Attach the vacuum gauge to a manifold vacuum port. Adjust each idle mixture screw (Figures 10 & 11) 1/8 turn at a time, alternating between each screw. Turn them equally, until you achieve the highest possible vacuum reading without adjusting the curb idle speed screw. I'll comment on what is basically the equal to the Carter/Edelbrock carb since they are merely a slightly upgraded version of the OEM units.
