It burns about the same speed as Varget, and you normally find the powder charges for the two powders end up being pretty close as far as accuracy nodes go.By careful loading, the .223 Remington can duplicate the performance of the .22 Hornet, .22 WMR or .22 LR. Several manufacturers have introduced loads of lower power and recoil in such cartridges as .30-30 Win., .30-06, .270 Win., .308 Win., 7mm Magnum and others, but they are still of sufficient power that they are suitable for hunting species as large as deer.Here's how Hodgdon says to build a reduced load. Find a load that uses H4895, multiply the maximum powder charge by 0.6 and the result is the lowest charge of H4895 that will reliably ignite and give uniform pressure and velocity.
